Elopement Details

We are excited to extend this invitation to our intimate celebration.

Join us for a weekend of music, laughter and breathtaking views of Clare Island.

Order of events 

​*this is what Conor & Celeste (and Maeve!) will be doing over the weekend. You are welcome to join us for as much or as little as possible. 

Thursday 4 June

Arrive at Roonagh Pier to catch the ferry to Clare Island. 

Bookings can be made for the ferry via O'Grady's (https://www.clareislandferry.com/) 

Guests are welcome to explore the Island and if interested, meet us at Anchor Bar and Bistro for a casual dinner and a pint or two.

Friday 5 June

2:00pm Ceremony 

​3:30pm Pre-Dinner Drinks and Canapes at Bay View House

6:00pm Reception at Bay View House 

Saturday 6 June

A BBQ lunch will be provided from 4:00pm.

Sunday 7 June

Depart Clare Island on the ferry returning to Roonagh Pier.

About Clare Island 

(Irish: Cliara or Oileán Chliara)

 

Clare Island is located 3.5 miles off the west coast of County Mayo, Ireland. Clare Island was part of the lands of the O'Malley family. It is famous as the home of the 16th century pirate queen Gráinne O'Malley.The ruins of an O'Malley tower-house, known as Granuaile's Castle.

The island has a population of about 160 people; economic activities include farming, fishing and tourism with numerous other small businesses also supporting a vibrant community.

Travel Information

Transport 

For those traveling by car, parking is available at Roonagh Pier ferry terminal. Once on Clare Island, follow the signs to the beach for the picnic and ceremony location.

Travel time by car from Dublin to Roonagh Pier is approximately 3 hours 45 mins ( Traffic depending) 

Travelling by train - Depart from Dublin Heuston Station to Westport, direct train (3 hours 26 mins) From there it is a 30 min drive to Roonagh pier (local taxis or minibus options are available)

Ferry times (Based on 2025's schedule):​

Monday -Thursday - Dept Roonagh Pier at 10.35am, 1.15pm and 5.00pm

Friday-Sunday Dept Roonagh Pier at 10.35am, 1.15pm, 5.00pm and 6.00pm

Dept Clare Island at 9.45am, 12.45pm, 4.15pm and 5.30pm

Note - the boat is foot passengers only. There is free safe public car parking at Roonagh Pier. Please note if you are in receipt of an Irish Travel Pass please let the ferry people know and you will travel for free.​

It’s also a good idea to bring some cash as on occasions there may be a difficulty with cash machines/wifi on the island.

For anyone wishing to stay at the lighthouse you will need to book a taxi. (Cash only).

The phone number for the island taxi is 087 2581874 (Humphrey) or 086 2228478 (Bridget). There is one taxi on the island so booking well in advance is advised particularly for the day of departure.

The majority of accommodation is situated within walking distance of the harbor and the ones that are not walkable do offer collection and drop off services as part of your stay - please confirm these details with each accommodation provider when booking.

Your presence will make our elopement unforgettable, however we understand weddings overseas (and on remote islands) can be a tricky and a very expensive process, so please don't feel any pressure to attend if it's not to be.

After all, this is an elopement... so if you just happen to be in the area at the time!
